all the difference
Monday, October 11
hoho! i still can't believe what happened today! it's so strangely amazing!
today was the econs paper 2. and though my studying for it only lasted half an hour, i came out of the exam hall with a brilliant smile on my face.
i myself personally had no idea how it's possible for someone to survive a paper with less than half an hour's worth of studying. but i guess now it's fairly obvious. only through God's grace (:
not that i'm trying to advocate this notion of barely studying for exams, but i mean like... it just really proves that committing everything into God's hands is what makes all the difference (: and i know everyone pretty much found the paper easy, but still, i rarely write essays well, so it makes a lot of difference to me (:
so, yesterday i'd been spamming studying for physics all the way till 10+, then i finally decided that it was time (or rather i was running rather late) to squeeze in some studying for econs. unlike paper 1 where the teachers had kindly dropped endless hints, few people knew anything about paper 2. so i was rationalising what to focus on, and wanted to start on macroeconomics, cos after all, wouldn't they want to test us as much as possible about the new topic they taught us?
but before i did that, i just had this incredible urge to drop everything and just worship God. there was no reason for it, but the feeling was so strong, and after all, worshipping's fun! so i grabbed my ipod and earphones, shut myself in my room, climbed up to my brother's upper bunk and just started my Christian playlist, singing the songs with gusto. and my oh my, it just felt so good! so peaceful, so comforting, so joyous, so fulfilling... words really cannot describe it (: worship is just so amazing.
and so after that, i didn't have much time left for studying, but yet felt strangely calm and at ease at the whole situation. so i jumped down from the bed, and instead of opening my macro book like i had planned to, i decided to read up on market failure, price controls and buffer stock schemes instead, since i didn't remember an inkling about measures to cope with market failure and forgot how the bss worked. after reading through those sections and hammering those facts into my head, it was closing in on 11.30. having aimed to sleep earlier for a change, i called it a night and committed everything into God's hands.
so, waking up today morning, i kept having the thought in my mind that out of the 3 questions, there'd only be 1 micro, while there'd be 2 macro questions to choose from! which would mean i'd be forced to pick at least 1 macro question... and considering i hadn't read through it, i would be pretty screwed.
but turning to God in prayer, i was given the peace of mind that i'd make it through the paper, and not to worry about the possibilities. so, telling myself i'd rely on my paper 1 knowledge of macro (which wasn't very much considering i just solely studied the question that almost the whole cohort spotted) to tide me through should all else fail, i went along to school with peace in my mind.
even before assembly, when there was time to whip out my book and start mugging for it, i decided that i was better off just having faith in God, rather than fretting over it all within the minutes before the exam.
and it paid off.
half an hour later in the exam hall during reading time, i whipped open the cover page and stared at the first question. a silly smile spread over my face. coffee beans. demand and supply. price ceiling. buffer stock solution. HAHA! the very things i'd studied the yesterday! with the points still fresh in my mind!
then i moved on to question 2, and the silly smile turned into a broad grin. pollution. negative externalities. preventive measures. HOHO! everything i'd covered in my half an hour of studying! it was just simply amazing!
i mean, just think about it. had i not studied for that half an hour, i'd have failed miserably. had i studied for more than that, i'd have wasted my time. teehee :D
He makes all the difference.
and helps me go the distance.
i think i can safely say without a doubt: God is amazing. period.
AMEN;
